I thought that this play was very odd and very confusing. I didn't like at all that it didn't really have any story or dialog in it. I thought that the Arrowhead students did a good job on a bad play. The story was confusing because without talking you just had to guess what was going on. It was also confusing because there was no main character so every song was sort of random and each one was about a different cat. By the way what is a gelical cat? Please let me know your thoughts about the play and whether or not it made any more sense to you than it did to me.

That's what makes the story so cool. You have to think about the words and have your own perspective of them. It's like any kind of poetry. Because it's a musical and the words are so fast, it makes it harder to understand it. You should read the poetry by T.S. Elliot.
I agree with you completely spacefanatic, that play was incredibly confusing. The play had no plot, theme, or main character that told about something. I think you were a bit redundant with the word "dialog" though.
I didn't know that the play was based on poems that makes a lot more sense, if i have the time i will try to read the poems.
When I saw Cats for the first time, I was confused, too. It's a lot easier to enjoy this play if you understand beforehand that it's not meant to be a typical plot-driven story. It's an "ensemble" piece, full of beautiful descriptions of personalities.
It's a good idea to learn as much about a play/musical/opera as you can before you see it. Especially stuff like Shakespeare. It'll make so much more sense if you read it first!
I compleatly agree with your ideas about the play.
