This book is about a group of boys who get stranded on an island after their plane got shot during a war they then have to fend for themselves without the help of adults. The two main characters are Ralph and Jack in the beginning their need is for fun and freedom, but then they develop a need for survival. The only problem is that they go about satisfying that need in different ways. Ralph satisfies it by getting everyone to build a signal fire to signal any passing ships. Jack goes about this by hunting pig for fresh meat. At first it all works out but then most of the boys get obsessed with catching pig and they let the fire go out. This makes Ralph very made angry so they each break and make their own tribes.

How do the needs impact the choices the characters make? Would you make the same decisions or not? Do you identify with any of the characters? In what way??

The needs impact their choises a lot becuase Ralphs need for survival makes his decisions for what they should do more centered towards rescue and are a lot more thought through unlike Jack who has more of a need for fun so his decisions are a lot more foolish
Good now use those ideas to communicate in your blog. Think of this blog as a diary of YOUR thoughts. Push yourself. There is no right or wrong opinion!!!! Take a risk Michael, I am really looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

So why do you think that Jack split off from the rest of the group? Why did the author call the book Lord of the Flies, when they only talked about that for about five pages in the book? Is there some other meaning?
Michael. When you presented the book to me you had lots of ideas on needs, choices and theme. You need to start putting these into your blog. Take something you are currently reading and add to your blog using analysis and choice theory. Mrs. G
How do we become authors on the NASA blog thingy?
